Trojans Continue Hot Start to Season With Win
|
Louisiana-Layfayette got a terrific game from left fielder Dave Robertson. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to USC, 7-5. Robertson was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He was 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. USC reliever Logan Royal was the winner. His record is now 1-0. Alex Reed took the loss. Josh Giordano got the save, the 1st for him this season.
Rob Musgrove was 1 for 2 with 3 walks for USC. The 21-year old second baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With no one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 4-4 tie with a run-scoring walk off Alex Reed. It was his 10th walk of the season.
"Our guys are never satisfied," said USC manager Brian McCauley.
USC now has a 3-game win streak.
