Longhorns Get Win, Hope to Turn Around Slow Start
The Texas Longhorns beat the Oregon Ducks, 7-6, at Crunch Ballpark. The Longhorns got a fine performance from third baseman David Bishop, who captured player of the game honors. He went 2-4 with a home run and was hit by a pitch. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4. John Gwaltney was credited with the save for Texas, his 3rd of the season. Texas's record now stands at 4-8, placing them 21st in the Cliff Gustafson.

The Longhorns got an important contribution from center fielder Jason Mahan, who in the top of the sixth knocked a 3-1 fastball into right-center for a run-scoring single. It was his 9th hit of the season and put the Longhorns ahead, 6-3.

"Some of the guys in here work hard, some of the guys just kind of fall out of bed and get it done. Whatever works I guess, we won this one," Mahan told the Texas Citizen.
