Volunteers Bang Out 8-6 Win Versus Ohio State
With center fielder Mike Holub leading the charge, the Tennessee Volunteers defeated the Ohio State Buckeyes, 8-6, at Madera College Grounds. Holub, who is tied for 5th in the SBL in triples with 1, was 3 for 3 with 3 singles and 2 walks. Travis Byron picked up the win, improving his season record to 1-0. He struck out 7 in 5 innings. The Volunteers improve their record to 4-7 with the win over Ohio State.

A critical at-bat came in the bottom of the seventh inning when the Volunteers sent 19-year-old first baseman Will Bartram to the plate with the bases loaded. The youngster shook off the pressure and reached on an error by the 3B, driving in 1 run, to put Tennessee on top, 8-6.

"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said Volunteers manager Bradley Else. "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."
