Ney Shines in 8-1 Houston Win
The Houston Cougars beat the TCU Horned Frogs, 8-1, at Dingoes Ballpark. Houston second baseman Vince Ney had an outstanding performance. He was 4 for 5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2. The win was credited to 21-year old right-handed pitcher Jake Coke in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Brad Wallingford took the loss. The victory puts Houston at 4-7.

The Cougars got a big hit from right fielder Bryan Battaglia. Facing TCU pitcher Dan Juilfs in the top of the fifth, Battaglia pounded a 3-run home run to right. His 4th home run of the season put the Cougars ahead, 7-0.

"I think we did a good job of looking for pitches we wanted to hit and put good swings on them," said Houston skipper Derrick Cable.
