Cyclones Walk It Off for 7th Win of Season
|
Forney College Grounds played host to some real drama.
The Iowa State Cyclones defeated the Tennessee Volunteers, 10-9, at Forney College Grounds. Iowa State was led by 18-year old left fielder Wade Whitehead, who was 4-5 with a home run, a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Nick Bowman came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 1 hit in 1.1 innings. His record now stands at 1-0.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Iowa State first baseman Eric Landes, facing Seth McCoy, had a run-scoring walk. It gave the Cyclones the 10-9 win.
"This place went bonkers at the end," Landes said.
The win makes Iowa State 7-3.
