Wirth Leads Tigers to Win
The Auburn Tigers and South Carolina Gamecocks lit up the scoreboard.

Thanks in large part to third baseman David Wirth, the Auburn Tigers beat the South Carolina Gamecocks, 16-11. Wirth went 3-3 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 4. Chad Rodgers was the winner. Over 5.1 innings, he yielded 2 runs on 6 hits, with 1 walk and 7 strikeouts.

With Auburn leading 3-2 in the bottom of the fifth, Wirth hit a slider from Jeremy Kramer for a 3-run home run. It was his 3rd home run of the season and put the Tigers ahead, 6-2.

"David was ready to go. Big day for him," said Auburn manager Sean Clark.

The loss makes South Carolina 5-5.
