The Ohio State Buckeyes did just enough to nip the Iowa State Cyclones, 5-4, in 12 innings. Ohio State pitcher Billy Moses, in particular, had a standout performance. Ohio State reliever Paul Adams was credited with the win. His record goes to 1-1. Steve Findling took the loss for Iowa State. The win gives Ohio State a record of 4-5.

The Buckeyes got a clutch hit from right fielder Tony Villenas. In the bottom of the 12th, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Buckeyes.

"The only difference is executing pitches and not executing pitches," said Moses. "When you don't execute, you get beat. When you execute, you usually give your team a chance to win."
