North Carolina and Virginia duked it out and the Tar Heels came out victorious.

North Carolina Tar Heels starter Mike Flynn pitched a strong game against the Virginia Cavaliers at Ballpark of Redwood College, leading the Tar Heels to victory, 8-6. The winning pitcher was Flynn, now 1-1. He tossed 5.1 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 2.

C.J. Cone helped out the North Carolina cause in the top of the second inning with a run-scoring walk. For the game, the first baseman was 1-4 with a walk and was hit by a pitch.

"Being able to play a game for a living is one thing. Being able to play it well and contribute to a win is even better," Cone told the North Carolina Today.

The win puts North Carolina at 6-3.
