Miami designated hitter Bill Barnes was sensational. He went 2-4 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once, but it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Alabama beat the Hurricanes, 6-5. Barnes was named the player of the game despite the loss. The win was Ryan Scarpitti's in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Robby Dron took the loss for Miami. The Crimson Tide, now 7-2, have been playing some good baseball.

The game came to an abrupt end with two out in the bottom of the ninth. On a pitch from Robby Dron, Elijah Crooks hit a walk-off run-scoring single. It gave Alabama the 6-5 walk-off win.

"It wasn't our best performance," said Crooks, "but a win in this league is nothing to sniff at."
