Cucamonga Win Squeaker, 6-5, Over Crawfish
|
The Rancho Cucamonga beat the Victory Lakes Crawfish, 6-5, at Crawfish Grounds. Pat Slaton was 2 for 3 with a home run, a walk, and was hit by a pitch, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. The 18-year old right fielder was a menace to Victory Lakes all day. Javier Trejo earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 3.2 innings. He upped his record to 1-0. The loss drops the Crawfish to 9-7.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the top of the ninth, with the game tied, Willie Sevilla was at the plate when Rancho scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Cucamonga to go in front, 6-5.
"We ground out the win," said Slaton. "That's all that matters."
