Tigers Turn Back Michigan, 6-5
|
The Missouri Tigers defeated the Michigan Wolverines, 6-5. Earning player of the game honors was left fielder Oscar Bilotta, who went 1 for 4 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Reliever Steve Wilburn picked up the win. His record improves to 1-0. Curt McBride took the loss. Missouri, now 5-3, has gotten their season off to a good start.
In the bottom of the 6th, first baseman Austin Harrington gave Missouri the lead when he hit a 2-run single. The Tigers had been trailing 5-4, but the two-out single off Michigan pitcher Javier de Anda changed that -- and Missouri went on to win.
"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Missouri manager Feitze Westerhout.
