Skyberg Slugs Tigers to 8-4 Win
|
The LSU Tigers trumped the Tulane Green Wave, 8-4, at South Paris College Grounds. LSU catcher Eric Skyberg was named player of the game for his performance. He was 2-3 with 2 home runs and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. The win was John Kerwin's in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Zach Perkins took the loss for Tulane. Nate Heide got the save, the 3rd for him this season.
Zach Banyas had a big run-scoring single for the Tigers in the bottom of the sixth inning. With LSU leading 2-1 and the bases loaded, he got a slider from Zach Perkins and stroked the single to center. It was his 4th hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Tigers ahead, 3-1.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Banyas told a LSU Herald reporter. "Sometimes we need just to relax."
The Tigers are off to a tough start, getting just their 3rd win in 8 games.
