Clemson right fielder John Whitney had a good game, even if his team did not. The Tigers dropped a 4-3 decision to Miami at Gremlins Ballpark. Whitney slugged 2 home runs. Miami reliever Ray Bunce picked up the win to move to 1-0. Eddie Guevara suffered the loss. Miami is now 2-5.

The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Miami catcher Guadalupe Gutierrez, facing Eddie Guevara, had a run-scoring walk. It gave the Hurricanes the 4-3 win.

"Walking a team off at the end -- there's no greater feeling," said Gutierrez.
