Golden Bears Beat Visiting Tigers, 5-2
|
California pitcher Rick Otten had a large part in his team subduing the LSU Tigers, 5-2. The opposition could never mount much of a rally against the right-hander. The winner was Otten. He threw 5.2 innings allowing 2 runs. The loser was Ozzie Pedro. California sits at 2-5.
Mike Keene had a big 2-run home run for the Golden Bears in the bottom of the sixth inning. With California leading 3-2 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a fastball from 19-year old right-handed pitcher Dustin Adkins and punished it. The result was his 3rd home run of the season, which put the Golden Bears on top, 5-2.
"It's nice to get the results when you're feeling good and throwing the ball well," said Otten after the game.
