Hits Galore: Gomez Drills 5 Hits
Victoria center fielder Manny Gomez had a big day at Maulers Park against the Martinsburg Maulers. The 20-year-old, who is not typically considered a big threat with the bat, went 5-for-5 and led to the 12-10 Cougars triumph over Martinsburg.

"Hey, I'm as surprised as you guys are," Gomez said in his postgame comments, smiling as he scolded the press corps for underestimating him. "Maybe I'm not so bad at the plate after all."

Manny Gomez singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, walked in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 7th and hit a two-run double in the 8th.

Currently Gomez is batting .409 with 18 hits and 2 home runs. He has knocked in 16 runs and scored 7 times.
