Cougars Win at Tulsa, 3-2
|
The Victoria Cougars earned a close win over the Tulsa Titans, thanks in part to Willie Lara. The Victoria right-hander played a key role in the 3-2 victory. Lara yielded 1 run over 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 3, and struck out 7. His record improves to 1-1. Earning his 2nd save of the year was Chad Mansur.
Victoria used a clutch at-bat from Francisco Torres to capture the win. The third baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Cougars ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
Victoria manager Tomas Sardina praised his team's "businesslike approach."
The win brings the Cougars to 6-4, a promising start as the team looks to return to the playoffs.
