The Oklahoma State Cowboys overcame a pretty good performance by South Carolina right fielder Mark Lloyd, beating the Gamecocks, 14-9, at Scandals Ballpark. Lloyd was 3-5 with a home run, a triple, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. Oklahoma State reliever Bob Drinkwater got the win, raising his record to 1-0. Jonathan Simpson was tagged with the loss. The Cowboys raised their record to 2-1.

Oklahoma State used the hitting of Jamie Markley to pick up the win. The left fielder clubbed a 3-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Cowboys on top, 8-5. For the game, Markley had 1 home run and 1 single in 6 at-bats.

"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Oklahoma State manager Xiao-wei Wang.
