A nice crowd turned out to see the South Mississippi Golden Eagles and Arizona Wildcats clash at Red Wings Ballpark.

The South Mississippi Golden Eagles defeated the Arizona Wildcats, 14-2, at Red Wings Ballpark. South Mississippi third baseman Dan Rosser was named player of the game for his superb performance. He was 2-2 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 5. Terry Gold, the winner, improved to 1-0. He held the Wildcats to no earned runs on 3 hits over 6 innings, while striking out 8 and walking 3.

Eric Manno dealt the Wildcats a blow in the top of the first. Batting with runners on 1st and 2nd and South Mississippi leading 1-0, Manno hit a first pitch curveball for a 3-run home run.

"If we keep hitting the ball well, the wins will pile up," said South Mississippi skipper Mario Romero.

The win takes South Mississippi to 2-1.
