49'ers Prevail, 5-4, Over LSU
|
Long Beach State 49'ers starter Brian Ricci pitched a strong game against the LSU Tigers at South Paris College Grounds, leading the 49'ers to a 5-4 win. Ricci got the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed 3 hits and walked 1 over 5 innings. Ricci allowed 1 earned run. Long Beach State, now 2-1, has gotten their season off to a good start.
Long Beach State used the bat of Jorge Medina to get the win. The left fielder hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the 49'ers ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it did its damage.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Medina, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
