Stanford right fielder Philip Long had a good game in a losing cause. His team fell, 12-6, to Tulane at Surfers Ballpark. Long was 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. The win went to Rob Okelberry in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Gary Wheeler took the loss. The Green Wave, now 3-0, have played some good baseball in the early going.

Bobby Rawls had a big bases-clearing double for the Green Wave in the top of the second inning. With Tulane leading 2-1 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from Gary Wheeler and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 2nd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Green Wave ahead, 5-1.

"It all comes down to competing and our guys love to compete," said Green Wave manager Taylor Longbottom.
