Ambre Bangs Out 5 Base Hits
|
It was a sensational day at the plate for Ole Miss Rebels left fielder Rob Ambre, but a tough one for the team, as the Rebels dropped the contest, 21-19, to the Baylor Bears.
Even with the loss, Ambre was pure misery for the Baylor pitching staff. He left them shell-shocked after going 5-for-7 in an explosive display of hitting.
"It's always good to get a bunch of hits in a game, but you also want to win," said Ambre, who is the 18-year old left fielder .
"Ambre really hit the ball hard and when you do that, you've got a good chance to do some damage," Bears manager Danny Blackson told BNN reporters after the game. "I feel like we threw him some good pitches, but he just put some good swings on the ball."
Rob Ambre hit a two-run home run off Steve Thomas in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit a two-run double in the 4th, hit a three-run home run off Bobby Job in the 5th, struck out in the 6th, hit a three-run home run off Mike Cranfill in the 7th and flied out in the 9th.
