Gutierrez Helps Beavers Win, 12-9, with Pair of Homers
The Texas Longhorns opened their 2062 season with a disappointing 12-9 loss to the Oregon State Beavers at Ballpark of Celebration College. Right Fielder Salvatore Gutierrez was a big part of the win for Oregon State. He slugged 2 home runs, while scoring 4 runs and driving in 3. Joey Virgona earned the win for Oregon State. He lasted 5 innings, allowing 3 runs on 7 hits, while striking out 5. With the win, he raised his record to 1-0.

Jason Dyson had a key at-bat with one out in the top of the fourth for Oregon State. With the bases loaded and the Beavers leading 2-1, he drew a walk, driving in 1 run.

"Whenever I help the team," said Dyson, "it sort of justifies my place on the roster."
