Fans brought energy and enthusiasm to the Clemson Tigers home opener. Pat Alexander started for the home team against Bob Epperson for the Iowa State Cyclones. The Tigers were unable to reward the home crowd with a win. The final score was 4-1, Iowa State. Shawn Jones, though, was impressive. Earning his 1st save of the year was Chris Gonzales.

Iowa State grabbed the momentum in the top of the fifth, when Jones hit a 2-run home run off Jonathan Jean. His 2nd home run of the season put the Cyclones out in front, 3-1.

In postgame remarks, Jones applauded his team's "business-like approach."
