Cotto 3-for-5 to Pull Beats to .500
|
The Kingston Beats and Martinsburg Maulers played an entertaining game for Maulers Park patrons.
The Kingston Beats bested the Martinsburg Maulers by a score of 6-5, with right fielder Francisco Cotto getting the main credit. On the day, Cotto went 3-5 with a home run and 2 triples. He drove in 6 runs and scored once for the Beats. After losing, Martinsburg is 1-1.
Cotto had a game-changing triple in the top of the seventh. On a 1-2 fastball from Jorge Arias, he banged a bases-clearing triple to left-center, giving the Beats a 6-5 lead. It was the 2nd triple of the year for Cotto.
Kingston manager David Duarte was pleased with the team's effort. "Our guys played hard, they played all the way through," he said.
