Salukis Get Close Win Over Razorbacks
|
The South Illinois Salukis satisfied the home crowd at Field of the Shield, treating them to a season-opening win, 1-0, over the Arkansas Razorbacks. Starting Pitcher Jon Dunlap was named player of the game for South Illinois. The win was credited to Terry Romrell in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Jake Browning took the loss.
Jeremy Price was the walk-off hero for South Illinois. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Salukis third baseman hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"We put some tough at-bats on some tough pitches," said South Illinois manager Gulloo Sandip.
