The Martinsburg Maulers opened their 2066 season with a triumph over the Oak Park Architects at Maulers Park. The final score was 8-6. Martinsburg left fielder Sandy Santos had a big game. He went 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Reliever Juan Marquez picked up the win. His record improves to 1-0. Frank Rivera took the loss. Joe Bauer earned the save for Martinsburg.

Eric Phillips had a big bases-clearing triple for the Maulers in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Martinsburg leading 5-4 and the bases loaded, he got a knuckleball from Frank Rivera and swatted a triple to right-center. It was his 1st triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Maulers ahead, 8-4.

"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Santos. "And not try to do too much."
