Indians Cut Down Creoles, 11-7
|
The Mayaguez Indians powered past the Caguas Creoles, 11-7, at Indians Ballpark. Mike Litherland was 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once, to lead the charge. Michael Brooks picked up the win with 6.2 innings of work. He allowed 6 earned runs on 8 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 8. On the season, he is now 4-1. The second-place Indians raised their record to 23-25.
Eddie Garcia had a big grand slam home run for the Indians in the bottom of the second inning. With Mayaguez trailing 4-2 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from Owen Stacey and stroked the home run to left-center. It was his 8th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Indians ahead, 6-4.
"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Mayaguez manager Caleb Barrett.
