Fans who came to Indians Ballpark watched the Mayaguez Indians and the Santurce Crabbers fight to the finish.
Enrique Zavala did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Santurce Crabbers from losing, 5-4, to the Mayaguez Indians at Indians Ballpark. Zavala was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. David Cepeda earned the save for Mayaguez, his 8th.
The Indians took the lead in the bottom of the third. With two out, Antonio Rodriguez hit a 2-run home run off Santurce pitcher Paul Peters, putting Mayaguez in front, 3-0. For the game, Rodriguez went 1-3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2.
Rodriguez called the triumph "a good team win."
Mayaguez is now 17-16.
