Indians Slip Past Carolina, 7-6
|
Carolina pitcher Jose Carbajal gave the Indians all they could handle, but in the end, Mayaguez left Ballpark of Giants with a 7-6 win. Carbajal allowed no earned runs on no hits over 0 innings. Mayaguez reliever Willie Morales picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Matt Long took the loss. David Cepeda got the save, the 5th for him this season.
This game was not decided until late. With one out in the top of the ninth, Terry Screws hit a solo home run. The Indians took the lead, 7-6.
"We'll take this win and move on," said Screws.
Mayaguez is now 13-14, Carolina 12-18.
