Giants Get Close Win Over Indians
|
The Carolina Giants faced a tough opponent in Mayaguez pitcher Hector Moncada, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Ballpark of Giants by a final score of 6-5. Moncada went 7 innings and allowed 2 earned runs. Trevor Biggs picked up the save, his 9th. Carolina currently is in last place in the Roberto Clemente Division at 12-17.
Also pitching in was Carolina designated hitter Omar Aguilar, who hammered a 2-run home run in the bottom of the eighth. For the game, Aguilar was 1-4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
Aguilar expressed little emotion after the game. "Every game we win now," he said, "is one less win we'll need to get in the end."
