Athenians Drop Crabbers with Late Score
|
The Manati Athenians bested the Santurce Crabbers by a score of 4-2, with right fielder Gabriel Maradiaga getting the main credit. On the day, Maradiaga went 3-4 with a home run, 2 doubles, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2 for the Athenians. Alexis Otero was called on to finish, recording his 2nd save. The Athenians, now 2-1, have been on a roll in the early going.
Maradiaga went 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 doubles, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2 against the Crabbers. With the game tied in the bottom of the eighth inning, he hit a 2-run home run that scored 2 and put Manati in front, 4-2.
"We were the better team today. Maybe that won't be the case next game, but we'll enjoy it for now," Maradiaga told the Manati Daily News.
