Melborne center fielder Rhys Alderdice pounded Auckland Tuatara pitchers at Melborne Grounds, but it was not enough to keep the Aces from falling, 12-4. Alderdice hit 2 home runs. Carl Sweeny picked up the win with 5.2 innings of work. He allowed 4 earned runs on 7 hits, while walking 5 and striking out 4. On the season, he is now 3-0. Auckland used the clutch hitting of Kurt Cant to capture the win. The right fielder drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Tuatara ahead, 8-4. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a big one.
