The Sydney Blue Sox got a superb performance from pitcher Brayden Kneale. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Geelong. The Korea won the game, 4-3. In spite of the loss, Kneale was named the player of the game. He threw 7 innings of 5-hit ball. Geelong, at 31-24, sits in second place in the Australian Baseball Southwest Division.
Had Ethan Pickford not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Pickford hit a bases-clearing double. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Korea.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said Sydney skipper Luis Valadez, "and it cost us."
