It was a fun time at Blue Sox Ballpark, where the Auckland Tuatara and Sydney Blue Sox tangled.
The Sydney Blue Sox trumped the Auckland Tuatara, 8-3, at Blue Sox Ballpark. Sydney shortstop Hsueh-liang Xiong was named player of the game for his performance. He was 3-4 with a home run and 2 triples, while adding 5 RBI and scoring once. Brayden Kneale earned the win to go to 3-4. He allowed 3 earned runs on 7 hits, with 2 walks and 4 strikeouts. Cooper Cutler picked up the save for Sydney, his 1st of the year.
Xiong had no bigger at-bat than in the bottom of the third when the 18-year old shortstop hit a 2-run triple. The triple gave Sydney the lead, 4-1. It was his 3rd triple of the season.
"I've been criticized for being a slacker, but the one thing I do care about is winning," Xiong told the Sydney Gazette.
The Blue Sox now have a mark of 17-26.
