Aces Score Late to Upend Heat, 2-1
|
The Perth Heat got a superb performance from pitcher Tom Haggers, but the Melborne Aces still won the game, 2-1. Haggers was named the player of the game despite the loss. He threw 5 innings of shutout ball. The Aces, at 18-25, sit in last place in the Australian Baseball Southwest Division.
Brett Waterson had a critical at-bat with no one out in the bottom of the ninth for Melborne. He came through with a run-scoring triple to put Melborne in front, 2-1.
"This place was electric at the end," Waterson said.
