Cavalry Pull Even With 10-5 Victory
|
Canberra and Auckland got after it at Ballpark of Auckland.
The Canberra Cavalry bested the Auckland Tuatara by a score of 10-5, with right fielder Xavier Brooks getting the main credit. On the day, Brooks went 2-4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2 for the Cavalry. The winner was Josh Lewis, who threw 121 pitches over 6 innings. The left-hander was charged with 3 runs on 4 hits.
Brooks had a critical at-bat in the top of the first for Canberra, coming through with a 2-run home run to put Canberra in front, 2-0.
"We'll pop the top on a cold one and get back to work tomorrow," Brooks said.
Canberra is third in the Australian Baseball Northeast Division with a record of 19-19.
