Bandits Topple Heat as Watkins Shines
|
The Brisbane Bandits topped the Perth Heat by the score of 12-6, with the largest share of the credit going to shortstop Jeff Watkins. Watkins went 3 for 4 with 2 doubles and a walk, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 3 for the Bandits. Brisbane reliever Quentin Galpin picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Zachary Dennis took the loss. With the win, the Bandits improved to 21-16.
Brisbane grabbed the momentum in the top of the fifth, when Watkins, who is tied for 10th in the AUB in runs scored with 26, hit a 2-run double. His 14th double of the season put the Bandits out in front, 8-6.
"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Watkins said after the game.
