Heat Rally to Eke Out Win
|
The Perth Heat did just enough to secure a 4-3 victory over the Auckland Tuatara at Ballpark of Auckland. Nobody did more than pitcher Samuel Angwin, who captured player of the game honors. Ian Cooper picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-1. Rob Eichele was tagged with the loss. Picking up the save was Matt Viehweg, his 1st.
With no one out in the top of the 11th, Josh Dingle put Perth in front, 4-3, with a solo home run. The Heat went on to win the ballgame.
"We had a chance to win," said Auckland manager Jimmy Stott, "but we didn't get it done."
Perth, now 16-13, holds second place in the Australian Baseball Southwest Division.
