|
Melborne shortstop Brett Waterson had a good game, even if his team did not. The Aces dropped a 5-4 decision to Auckland at Ballpark of Auckland. Waterson went 4 for 4 with 4 singles. Bert Aldridge earned the save, his 9th, for the Tuatara. The last-place Aces have lost 4 consecutive games.
The Tuatara got an important contribution from shortstop Karl Tibbles, who in the bottom of the fifth punched a 2-1 fastball into center for a run-scoring single. It was his 31st hit of the season and put the Tuatara ahead, 4-3.
"Nice to put this one in the win column," said Tibbles.
