Bandits Topple Giants with Late Rally
|
The Adelaide Giants and Brisbane Bandits provided some drama at Giants Grounds.
The Brisbane Bandits faced a tough opponent in Adelaide pitcher Jake Duncalf, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Giants Grounds by a final score of 4-3. Duncalf went 6 innings and allowed 2 earned runs. The winner was Kyle O'Neal in relief. His record improves to 1-2. Joe Trumbull took the loss. Wesley Abbey finished to wrap up his 7th save.
There were several reasons the Bandits beat the Giants, but one factor was Jai Coulton. In the top of the ninth, the Brisbane designated hitter came to bat and hit a run-scoring double. It staked his team to a 4-3 lead.
After the game, Brisbane manager Aaron Barnes applauded the team's effort. "They busted their tails out there," he said.
Their 16-12 record puts the Bandits second in the Australian Baseball Northeast Division.
