Heat Fall to .500 After Loss to Blue Sox
|
It was a fun time at Blue Sox Ballpark, where the Perth Heat and Sydney Blue Sox tangled.
The Sydney Blue Sox bested the Perth Heat by a score of 6-3, with left fielder Norm Gallard getting the main credit. On the day, Gallard went 3-3 with a home run, 2 singles, a walk, and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Blue Sox. Scott Lumsden got the win, improving to 1-0. He pitched 8 innings, giving up 5 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 7 and walking 3. William Sweeny recorded the save for Sydney, his 3rd of the season.
Charles Main had a big 2-run single for the Blue Sox in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Sydney leading 3-2 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from Tom Haggers and stroked the single to right. It was his 24th hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Blue Sox ahead, 5-2.
"We did a lot of things right," said Gallard.
With the victory, the Blue Sox record now stands at 7-11.
