Giants Need Extra Frames to Get Past Korea
|
Adelaide got a strong outing from Owen Stapleton as the Giants defeated the Geelong Korea, 3-1, at Ballpark of South Korea. The win was Joe Trumbull's in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Ted Baker took the loss for Geelong. The Korea fall to 5-6 and continue their uneasy start to the 2044 season.
The Giants got an important contribution from right fielder Hsien-feng Wang, who in the top of the 11th hit a 1-1 fastball into left-center for a 2-run double. It was his 5th double of the season and put the Giants ahead, 3-1.
"Whenever we hold the other team to one run," said Giants manager Malcolm Spalding, "I like our chances."
