Brooks Excels, But Blue Sox Win
Canberra got a terrific performance from right fielder Xavier Brooks, but it wasn't enough to beat the Sydney Blue Sox. Sydney won the Cavalry Grounds contest, 17-13. Brooks was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He hit 2 home runs, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 4. Sydney reliever Brayden Kneale picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Cheng-qian Yi was saddled with the loss. William Sweeny recorded his 1st save for Sydney.

Sydney second baseman Charles Main gave his club a productive at-bat in the top of the seventh inning. With the bases loaded and the Blue Sox leading 10-9, Main drew a walk, driving in 1 run.

"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said Blue Sox manager Luis Valadez. "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."

Sydney, now 2-4, is off to a slow start.
