Hot Start Continues for Bandits
|
The Brisbane Bandits downed the Melborne Aces, 5-3, at Melborne Grounds. The Bandits were led by Carlo Burrell, who captured player of the game honors. He went 4 for 4 with a double and 3 singles. Hayden Twomey earned the win to go to 1-0. He allowed 2 earned runs on 4 hits, with 4 walks and 4 strikeouts. Brisbane, now 5-1, has gotten their season off to a good start.
In the top of the ninth, with Brisbane leading 4-3, designated hitter Jai Coulton hit a solo home run. The hit came off D.J. Nelson and put the Bandits ahead, 5-3.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Burrell said.
