The Melborne Aces got a superb performance from shortstop Allan Butler, but the Brisbane Bandits still won the game, 6-3. Butler was named the player of the game despite the loss. He went 4-5 with a double and 3 singles. Getting the save was Wesley Abbey, his 2nd. Brisbane, now 4-1, has played well in the early going.

It could have been a different outcome for Brisbane, had it not been for Bob Ziersch, the 18-year old right fielder . Ziersch contributed a 2-run single in the top of the third inning to put Brisbane up, 4-1.

"The guys seem happy with the win. That's good, I guess," said Ziersch.
