Miners Get Road Win, 7-5
|
Kurt Burt helped his team muscle past the Washington Wild Things, 7-5. In the game, the Southern Illinois designated hitter was 2-4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. The win was Justin Nibert's in relief. His record improves to 6-1. Cortez Jasso took the loss for Washington. With the win over Washington, the Miners improved to 36-37.
Southern Illinois took a 7-5 lead on Dave Ridgway's 6th triple of the season. The 2-run triple, which Ridgway hit in the top of the seventh, left Washington pitcher Cortez Jasso visibly frustrated.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Southern Illinois manager Marco de Jesus.
