Grizzlies Continue Skid Thanks to Benham, Otters
|
The Evansville Otters beat the Gateway Grizzlies, 7-6 at Rocketmen Ballpark, in part due to shortstop Scott Benham, who nabbed player of the game honors. He was 3 for 3 with a home run, 2 doubles, and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Colton Guest converted his 19th save in 20 tries. Evansville is now riding a 3-game win streak.
Aaron Hayes, the Evansville designated hitter, contributed a 2-run home run in the bottom of the first inning to make the score 2-1, Otters. For the game, Hayes went 2 for 4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Hayes said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
