Boomers Sneak Past Aigles, 5-4
|
The Schaumburg Boomers took Trois-Rivieres pitcher John Strauss's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Kings Ballpark. The final score had Schaumburg getting past the Aigles, 5-4. Strauss went 5 innings and allowed 1 earned run, striking out 5. Schaumburg is in 5th place in the Frontier League Midwestern Division with a record of 32-40.
The game was at a stalemate until left fielder Jason Parsons came to bat in the bottom of the 14th. Facing Trois-Rivieres pitcher Dave Longley, he hit a 0-1 cutter for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Schaumburg on top, 5-4.
"The game is never over 'til it's over," said a jubilant Bill DesMarais, the Schaumburg skipper.
