Aigles Sink Boomers, 6-4
|
Jon Achbar did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Schaumburg Boomers from losing, 6-4, to the Trois-Rivieres Aigles at Kings Ballpark. Achbar was 2-2 with 2 home runs and a walk. Trois-Rivieres starter Ryan Malone was credited with the win after throwing 81 pitches over 5.2 innings. His record now stands at 5-3. Bobby Polansky was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 3 of 4 save opportunities.
It could have been a different outcome for Trois-Rivieres, had it not been for Matt Cellucci, the 22-year old left fielder . Cellucci contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the first inning to put Trois-Rivieres up, 1-0.
"If we play well, we'll win our share of games," said Cellucci. "The only team that can beat us is us."
Trois-Rivieres has a 3-game win streak, while Schaumburg has lost 3 in a row.
