Evansville right fielder Jason Mathiesen played a vital role in his team's 3-2 triumph over Trois-Rivieres. He was 4-5 with a double and 3 singles for Evansville. Colton Guest picked up the save, his 17th. The third-place Otters are now 36-32, the Aigles 38-30.
Mathiesen had a game-changing single in the top of the ninth. On a 1-1 slider from Bobby Polansky, he banged a run-scoring single to center, giving the Otters a 3-2 lead. It was the 75th hit of the year for Mathiesen.
"We put some tough at-bats on some tough pitches," said Evansville manager Matt Bell.
